We have been unable to establish contact some of our classmates – please review this list and see if you can’t help us. We wanted to thank all of you who came to the 25 year reunion. From the feedback we’ve recieved, it would seem that a splendid time was had by all. If you weren’t able to attend, you’re in luck – we have 100+ pictures from the reunion up on the class website - www.shrine1984.org.
If you have pictures from the reunion you would like to share, just forward them to this e.dress and we’ll post them to the website.
We had classmates come in from Allenton, Grand Rapids & Benton Harbor, Michigan, Chicago, Illinois, Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Asheville, North Carolina, Seattle, Washington, Mexico City, Mexico, Iquitos, Peru and even had someone come in all the way from Grosse Pointe, Michigan (Thanks Sue!).
We ended up with:
High School classmates: 38 (29.7% of the class – - not bad, but we could’ve done better!)
Grade School classmates: 7
Spouses and other special guests: 17
Total: 62 people
A complete list of those in attendance can be found on the website
Due to the strong turnout at the door, we did end up with a budget surplus of $200.
Don’t worry, it’s not going to the Arce Rogaine Fund - Dave’s just gonna stick with the hat!
No, we found a much worthy cause : Amazon Promise
Those of you from Shrine Grade School will recognize the founder of this organization as one of our own : Patty Webster.
So not only did those in attendance have a great time, they also helped a very worthy cause.
Thanks again to those in attendance.
Hopefully we don’t have to wait another 5 years to see you.
It’s only 4 days until the reunion. Seriously, please come as you are. Doors will open at 7:00 PM Also that night at the high school, in the new field house, there will be the ceremony for the Shrine Sports Hall of Fame.
Jake: So the band’s gonna be hungry when we get together.
Elwood: I know, I know.
Jake: Have you figured out how we’re gonna feed ‘em?
Elwood: Yeah. Four fried chickens and a Coke.
Jake: Chicken wings or chicken legs?
Elwood: Four fried chickens and a Coke.
Jake: That’s it ?
Elwood: And some dry white toast.
Jake: You might want to offer them more than that for their $5000.
Elwood: It’s not $5000! It’s only $25 and you have to have that in to Dave Arce by this Friday!
Jake: Just $25? That’s a good deal for $25 . . .
please rsvp and send your payment in today
Elwood: The band, you knows, they’re not gonna want to get together.
Jake: I know – I can hear the excuses already
Jake: “I ran outta gas. I had a flat tire. I didn’t have enough money for cab fare.”
Jake: “My tux didn’t come back from the cleaners. An old friend came in from outta town.”
Jake: “Someone stole my car. There was an earthquake, a terrible flood, LOCUSTS !!”
Jake: Yeah, I got that one twice
Elwood: Yeah, well, getting the band back together might not be that easy.
Jake: What’re you talking about?
Elwood: They split, they all took straight jobs.
Jake: Yeah, so you know where they are. You said you were gonna keep in touch with them
Elwood: I got a coupla leads, a few phone numbers, but I mean, how many of them visited or even wrote you huh?
Jake: They’re not the kinda guys who write letters. You were s’posed to keep in touch with the band. I kept asking you if we were gonna play again.
Elwood: Well, what was I gonna do? Take away you’re only hope? I took the liberty of bullshitting you, okay?
Jake: You lied to me.
Elwood: It wasn’t lies, it was just bullshit. But there is a website with a list of the missing band mates you can check out.
Jake: Website ? What’s a website? Is that like SCMODS ?
Elwood: SCMODS ?
Jake: State, County, Municipal, Offender, Data, System.
Elwood: Yeah, just like that, only more pictures
please rsvp and send your payment in today
Jake: What! Putting the band back together? How we gonna do that ?
Elwood: We’re playing the Palace Hotel Ballroom in Lake Wazzapamani. Jake: That’s a mighty big barn . . . how about the Shrine High School Library?
Elwood: Shrine High School had a library?
Jake: Yeah – across the hall from the Chapel
Elwood: Chapel? We had a chapel?
Jake: Down the hall and around the corner from MacDougal’s office.
Elwood: Dougie’s office I remember
Jake: Like how much this gonna cost ?
Elwood: We need to get $5000 to the Cook County Assessors office within 11 days.
Jake: Uhm, that’s a lot of dough, Elwood. How about we send $25 to Dave Arce by September 11th?
Elwood: That’ll work too
please rsvp and send your payment in today
The details on the 25 Year Reunion have been firmed up: It will be a decidedly lower-key event than the 20th reunion, but we are still hoping it gets loud enough for Sarab to ask for the music to be turned down again! There will be no excuse to miss it . . . OK, if you are in Afghanistan rebuilding the basic social infrastructure you are off the hook (and thanks for making the rest of us look bad, Harvey.) But the rest of you have no reason to miss it. Saturday, October 3rd We are asking for RSVP’s by Friday, September 11th, 2009 For those attending please send checks to: Dave Arce For those of you who need something to hang on your fridge you can download a pdf file of the invitation at : http://shrine1984.org/shrine.1984.25.year.reunion.pdf Thanks for the great response so far. |
